Everyday English at home, kids 0 to 5

Speak English with your child, even if it's not your first language

Maybe you already speak English with your child. Maybe you want to start. Either way, let's be honest: when English isn't your first language, the words aren't always there when you need them. The Betty's HOME app gives you short, natural phrases for everyday moments, checked with a native speaker and shown on video.

Free until 31 December 2026. No payment details needed.

"Where is the cat?"

"Can you point to it?"

The Point to it card in the Betty's HOME app, with a video and the phrases can you point to it and where is the cat

  • Shown on video, in real moments
  • Made by a mom who isn't a native speaker either

From freezing to just saying it

You already know why English matters. What's missing is the words in the moment.

Without the words

  • You know what you want to say, just not how.
  • You switch back to your own language halfway through.
  • You go quiet in English when someone is listening.

With the words

  • The words are ready, right where the moment happens.
  • You've heard them said out loud, so you know how they sound.
  • You say them every day, until they feel like yours.
Becky buckled up in her car seat
One moment: the car seat

This is what it sounds like

  • Let's get you in your car seat.
  • Now, let me buckle you up.
  • Buckle up.

Three short sentences. That's all one moment needs. Said every day, they become yours, and your child's.

One moment, one phrase, one short video

  1. 1

    Pick a moment

Eating, getting dressed, the car, story time. The moments you already have every day.

  2. 2

    Watch and say it

I show you the phrase in a short video, in a real moment with my daughter.

  3. 3

    Use it in the moment

Say it when it happens, tap "I said it today", and repeat it for a few days until it feels like yours.

From the beta version

What the first parents said

"Mainly, it helped me start at all. I kept putting it off, waiting until she was ready and until I'd learned everything myself. This way I could just start, and the rest gets added every day."
Beta tester, mom of a baby
"It motivated me to speak more. I was less afraid, because I knew these were phrases people really use, and not my 'Slovak' English."
Beta tester, mom

Translated from Slovak. The beta version was shaped into the app based on this feedback.

Is this for you?

It's for you if

  • English isn't your first language, but you want to speak it with your child
  • Your child is between 0 and 5
  • You want words for real, everyday moments, not a course
  • Some days you only have time for one sentence, and that's fine

It's not for you if

  • You'd rather someone else teaches your child English
  • You're looking for a grammar course for yourself
  • You want lessons with a fixed schedule
  • You expect your child to be fluent in a few weeks

Betty with her daughter
Hi, I'm Betty

A mom who's doing it too

I'm not a native English speaker, but I speak English with my daughter every day. When she was a newborn, I didn't even know what to call the snaps on her onesie. So I started collecting the words for our everyday moments, checking every one with a native speaker, and sharing them with parents like you.
